Care Guide
Caring for Your Jewelry
Fine jewelry is designed to last generations. With proper care, your pieces will maintain their beauty and brilliance for a lifetime.
Daily Wear
- • Put jewelry on last — after applying lotions, perfume, and hairspray
- • Remove before activities — swimming, cleaning, exercising, and sleeping
- • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, chlorine, and bleach
- • Be mindful of impacts — gemstones can chip or crack if struck hard
Cleaning at Home
Diamonds & Hard Gemstones (Sapphires, Rubies)
Soak in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 15–20 minutes. Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the back of the stone. Rinse under clean water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Emeralds & Softer Stones
Use lukewarm (not hot) water and a very soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam — emeralds are often oiled and heat can damage the treatment.
Jade & Pearls
Wipe gently with a damp, soft cloth after each wear. Never use chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners. Store separately to avoid scratching.
Gold & Platinum Bands
Warm soapy water and a soft brush works well. For platinum, a professional polish every 12–18 months will restore the original luster.
Storage
- • Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box
- • Keep diamonds away from other gemstones — they can scratch anything
- • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- • Use anti-tarnish strips for silver-containing alloys
Professional Maintenance
We recommend bringing your jewelry to us for professional servicing:
- • Every 6 months: Prong check and tightening
- • Annually: Professional ultrasonic cleaning
- • Every 1–2 years: Rhodium replating (white gold only)
- • As needed: Re-polishing, re-sizing, and repairs
